RF server ip address - Static or Dynamic? Hi Eric/Marcelo, Firstly, thank you for switching the Canadian POP to Toronto!! At least 30 people (that I know) were glad to "discover" the switch and are now happier RF.com users :-) Nearly all of us use Betamax group of companies (i.e. voipstunt.com, internetcalls.com, etc. More info here) to make international calls as well as long distance calls in Canada via SIP. The service is great because one gets to call over 40 countries for FREE*. Read more about the asterisks next to word "FREE" on their websites, as nothing in this life is truly free . Registered users get max 300 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days and per unique IP address. Unused free minutes cannot be taken to the following week(s). If limit is exceeded the normal rates apply. Anyway, the only issue that I see with using Betamax SIP services with RF.com is if RF's media server IP address is static. If so, the 300 FREE weekly minutes would be spread among all RF users who subscribe/use to Betamax services. I wonder if other VOIP providers have similar limitations and whether you guys came across any? On a separate note, please start a new thread in the root of the forum for users to report their experiences with VOIP providers and FR.com! I'm glad to report, aside from a potential issue with the IP address, all Betamax services work nicely with RF.com. Connection is fast, call quality is excellent. I've only had one "dropped" call after about 20 min of talking, but a quick redial resolved the issue. Regards, AllaNET |
