Hi, I registered my iPhone and set up using Skype and am trying to call a "'regular" number versus a username. Is that possible? If I call a U.S. number I assume I have to dial a +1 first, correct? I just wanted to try to connect to a local number before I try a international call. Do I have to enter my Skype username and pwd somewhere? When I tried to make a local call using Skype from the pull-down, and clicked to call the 415 number, it rings and then I get a "I'm sorry, goodbye" response. I've tried several times with the same response. Can you advise as to how I should be entering the calls? |

The short answer is that SkypeOut calls won't work and we apologize for the lack of descriptive error messages. The long answer is that with Skype we have some unique challenges that we we don't have interconnecting with other VoIP providers. Our first step was to get a gateway working so anyone could make calls to Skype users without even needing a Skype account. Our next step will be to give users the option of using their own Skype account and their SkypeOut minutes. This is not a simple task and will require some creativity. P.S. Marcelo went to Best Buy today and bought a real microphone, so we can record more descriptive error messages. |
